Thermage® (Tighter Skin Without Surgery)

Thermage Kentucky | Thermage IndianaThe Thermage® procedure is a non-surgical technique of tightening skin that uses a unique form of radiofrequency energy to allow the physician to tighten loose or sagging skin, producing a kind of "lift" without an incision or recovery time.

With the gentle touch of the device tip, the surface of the skin is cooled, while the deeper tissue, is altered by radiofrequency heating. This not only tightens deeper skin tissue, but jumpstarts new collagen production, which occurs over a period of time.

While not a substitute for a surgical facelift, the Thermage® procedure can be used on patients with a moderate amount of sagging skin and wrinkles. The Thermage® procedure is sometimes referred to as a ThermaCool, ThermaLift or DermalLift by physicians who have observed that this non-surgical procedure lifts and tightens tissue, similar to a facelift without the surgery.

What are the benefits and advantages?

  • No recovery or patient downtime
  • Results usually appear immediately and improve over time
  • No scalpel surgery or incisions
  • You may return to your normal activities immediately
  • There is no special care needed after treatment

Where on the face is it applied?

Tightening skin in certain key areas can be advantageous for cosmetic improvement, for example: Treating the skin of the forehead can lift the eyebrows and enhance the appearance of the eyes, making the eyes look more open, less tired, more alert.

What does the procedure feel like?

With each touch of the Thermage® treatment tip, there is an immediate cool sensation, followed by a brief hot sensation, followed by a cool sensation. The top layers of your skin are protected with a cooling spray while radiofrequency energy heats the collagen in the lower layers. The procedure is very safe, as it is performed by a technology cleared by the FDA to treat periorbital skin laxity and wrinkles.

How long does the Thermage® procedure take?

The procedure takes approximately one to one and a half hours.

When can I return to my normal activities?

You may return to your normal activities immediately, as there is usually no "downtime." Minimal redness is seen in some patients but it usually disappears within an hour after treatment. There is no special care needed after treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

A single treatment has produced good results in a significant number of patients. However, your doctor will assess the number and frequency of treatments required to achieve optimal results for your skin. Repeat treatments will be required for some.

When will I see results?

Results appear immediately and continue to improve over 6 months.

How long will the effects of the Thermage® procedure last?

The results of the thermage procedure last approximately two to five years, depending on the rate of the aging process.
